On Saturdays, Südstern in Kreuzberg transforms into one of Berlin's most beautiful weekly markets: around 35 vendors, organic produce directly from the farm, street food, and natural wine, nestled between the Neo-Gothic Garrison Church and the lively hustle and bustle between the Gräfe- and Bergmannkiez.

New Market at Südstern: Kreuzberg’s Weekly Market with Character

Since October 2012, a weekly market has taken place at Südstern, right by the church, every Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00. Seven streets converge in a star shape, and on one side, the Neo-Gothic Garrison Church stretches towards the sun, while on the other, market stalls beckon. In good weather, this place unfolds its full charm. Berliners and curious visitors alike stroll here, coffee cups in hand, without haste.

Approximately 35 vendors sell fruit, vegetables, fish, and cheese, as well as selected specialties, from homemade Schupfnudeln (potato noodles) to natural wines from local winemaking families and fresh olive oil. All products come directly from regional producers. High-quality, handmade clothing, as well as art and design from Berlin, can also be found here.

Feast, Linger, Discover

Those who don’t want to carry their purchases themselves can use the practical bicycle delivery service, which brings the goods to your doorstep for a small donation. If you feel hungry, you can indulge in a woolly pig bratwurst from Niederlausitz or modern street food like a Blue Cheese Volcano Burger. This makes the market far more than just a shopping routine.

In addition to the weekly market activities, the Neuer Markt am Südstern regularly organizes special events such as tastings, cooking demonstrations, or children’s programs. This turns a visit into an experience for the whole family. The market was also named one of the eleven most beautiful weekly markets in Berlin. A Saturday morning here tastes like more than just sunshine.
