Berlin is the capital of dogs, with over 100,000 four-legged friends living here, more than in any other German city. And they want to be kept busy, cared for and pampered. These ten offers are aimed at the animals and their owners alike. With the idea of city tours for people and dogs, tourism professional Melanie Knies took off with Berlin mit Hund. At the EZGS dog sports club in Zehlendorf, puppies, young dogs and sporting dogs train together, and dog physiotherapist Veronika Nass in Rahnsdorf pampers the animals with massages. The southern Grunewaldsee invites you to romp around, and at the Hauptstadthund shop Christina Sieber sells deluxe food. What will you treat your four-legged friend to next?

For this list, I took a close look at Berlin's offerings for dogs, from the city tours for people and dogs to the dog sports club in Zehlendorf and the physiotherapy in Rahnsdorf. I made sure that owners and animals both get something out of it. Here is my selection for a happy dog life in the big city.
In Marzahn, where dog training is rarely taken so seriously, CaniSozium relies on scientifically sound training for fear and aggression behaviors as well as rescue dogs. Here, even dogs that others have long given up on find their place.
The DogCoach Institute has been operating in Detmolder Straße in Wilmersdorf since 2002, offering: individual one-on-one training, courses from basic obedience to mantrailing, trainer education, and therapy dog teams. Founder Enrico Lombardi also conducts the temperament test for Berlin and Brandenburg.
On Teltower Damm in Zehlendorf, EZGS dog sports train at a club level: agility, obedience, dog sports competition, and recreational sports, open to all breeds and mixed breeds. Entry is possible with a 10-session pass or a guest membership.

Berlin's first dog ice cream manufacturer is located in Marienfelde and produces frozen yogurt for four-legged friends: lactose-free, without added sugar, and in flavors from salmon to watermelon. The recipes were developed in collaboration with veterinarians.

On the southern part of Grunewaldsee in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, dog owners will find two spacious sandy beaches where dogs are officially allowed in the water. Grunewaldsee is the only lake in Berlin with designated dog bathing areas, embedded in approximately 800 hectares of leash-free forest.
Dog boarding, dog daycare, and dog hotel all in one: Belloberlini on Potsdamer Straße in Berlin-Tiergarten offers professional care for four-legged friends of all ages and sizes, day and night, directly connected to an enclosed dog exercise area.
In Volkspark Hasenheide, on the border between Neukölln and Kreuzberg, there is an enclosed dog garden exclusively for small dogs: a maximum of 35 cm tall, a maximum of 15 kilograms in weight. The dog garden "Kleine Feiglinge" (Little Cowards) offers puppies and small breeds the space they need without larger companions dominating the power play.
