In Marzahn, where prefabricated buildings meet expansive green spaces, lies Berlin's green world tour: The Gardens of the World combine over 20 international theme gardens across 43 hectares, a hovering cable car over the Kienberg, and open-air concerts for up to 5,000 visitors.

Gardens of the World: A World Tour Without a Suitcase

The Gardens of the World in Marzahn are the opposite of a meadow with a jogging track. Over 20 different country and theme gardens spread across 74 hectares. Among them are Europe’s largest Chinese garden, a classic Japanese garden, a tropical garden from the island of Bali, as well as an oriental garden and a Seoul garden from Korea. For a free afternoon outdoors, the complex offers significantly more variety than a typical Berlin city park.

Especially practical: With a passport, you embark on an entertaining world tour through the park. The folded map with passport is available at the ticket offices or in the visitor center, and the journey through eleven countries begins in any theme garden. Furthermore, navigating the park is even more worthwhile thanks to the new digital guidance system. A day ticket for adults costs 9 Euros, including the cable car 12.90 Euros.

Cable Car, Bobsled Run and Summer Concerts

From above, the complex reveals itself from the cable car. The cable car connects the districts of Marzahn and Hellersdorf, floating over the entire park, offering guests an extraordinary view of Berlin’s skyline. It gets faster on the natural bobsled run, which leads through the park landscape into the valley at up to 40 kilometers per hour. Thus, the excursion on a sunny day is by no means only for those seeking peace and quiet.

Culturally, there is also much to experience. The Open-Air Arena of the Gardens of the World regularly hosts events from classical to pop and accommodates up to 5,000 guests. Families with children also get their money’s worth thanks to the water playground: A highlight in summer is the water playground „Konrad’s Journey to the South Seas‟. The park is open daily year-round from 9 AM and can be easily reached by U5 to the Kienberg (Gardens of the World) station.
