The park am Gleisdreieck was opened in three stages between 2011 and 2014 and has long ceased to be an insiders’ tip. On a fair day the park is chock full with active Berliners. Very frequented are the areas for skaters and inliners, but there are also boules tracks, pingpong tables and football fields. The open air fitness equipment is free to use. Families with children peruse the playgrounds and train aficionados follow the traces of the old railroad use of Gleisdreieck.

Though the atmosphere is decidedly more active than picturesque, there is also enough to see for friends of nature: they rejoice with the fragrant rose garden and the garden allotment “Gardens in the Garden” – a small area in which everyhing can grow what wants to grow. This is how this fairly new park has won over Berliners and tourists alike with its very own charme.. The park is divided in an Eastern and Western section and has won the German Landscaping Award 2015. The award sponsor bdla has acknowledged this area of 34 hectares as a prime example for the green conversion of a former industrial ground.
