The colourful Kreuzberg crowd nicknames this park of 14 hectares affectionately "Görli".
Rastafari play their drums, children enjoy the kids’ farm, there is a designated BBQ spot in the park, the steps of Café Edelweiß are ideal to bask in the sun and the basement of Café ISA MITZ is home to a a blacklight miniature golf track.
As nice as the atmosphere at Görli might be, as dirty can it be, especially after a sunny weekend. On top of that the park has a massive drug dealer problem after sunset which cannot be denied.
Interessant facts on the history of Görlitzer Park: The park was the original site of the train station Görlitzer Bahnhof, which was in use until 1951. Another particularity of the park is the Pamukkale Fountain, built in the 1990 to honour the countless Turkish citizens of Kreuzberg. However, already in its first winter the fountain cracked due to construction errors and was cordoned off. Its remnants are used now as outside seating.
