Sledding Hill Teufelsberg

Sledding Hill Teufelsberg

Teufelsberg is probably the fastest sledding hill in all of Berlin - with 120 metres Berlin's highest elevation.

The Teufelsberg is made of of about 12 million cubic metres of war debris but has served now as a place for various leisure activities. In winter it is the perfect place for a little winter sports. As soon as the snow is lasting, the Berliners congregate here for sledding, snow boarding and even cross-country skiing.

It takes about 15 minutes to go up the hill but it is totally worth it. Once on top of it, you will not only be rewarded with a steep sledding hill for zooming downhill but also with a splendid panorama view.

Teufelsberg Trivia: winter sports on Teufelsberg do have a tradition. Between 1963 and 1972 they even had a ski lift and snow guns there. The lift has to be dismantled though since its metal posts intereferred with the reception antennae of the Allied Listening Post on Teufelsberg.

On top of that, Teufelsberg is used for kiting, paragliding, climbing and hiking.

Top10Berlin insiders' tip: Not only in the summer the panoramic view of Berlin from Teufelsberg is quite dazzling. You have a tremendous view of the fireworks on New Year's Eve here with hundreds of other people.
