Calisthenics Park Fischerinsel: Outdoor Training
In the heart of Berlin, between the high-rises of Fischerinsel and the Spree riverbank, lies a training area that costs nothing and is always open. The Calisthenics Park was created as part of the upgrade of the northern open spaces by the Mitte district office and is aimed at anyone who wants to work with their own body weight. Pull-up bars, parallel bars, and horizontal bars cover the classics: pull-ups, dips, muscle-ups, front lever. Those who prefer to stay on the ground can use the area for push-ups, planks, and mobility.
The big advantage on sunny days: you train outdoors instead of indoors, with a view of the Spree and no contract. In the mornings, the facility is usually empty; in the late afternoon, you’ll find a mixed group of residents, students, and ambitious calisthenics enthusiasts showing each other techniques.
Centrally located and easy to combine
The location is the second advantage. It’s just a few minutes from Alexanderplatz, and Nikolaiviertel and Museum Island are within walking distance. A training session can therefore easily be combined with a city walk or integrated into a run along the Spree riverbank.
All you really need to bring are gloves or grip aids if the bars get hot in the sun, and enough water. There are no changing rooms or showers, but its use costs nothing, and no one needs to register.
