Yacht Charter Werder: Boat Holiday Without a License

The plan is quickly made: take the train out of the city, and about 45 minutes later, you’ll be at the harbor pier in Werder an der Havel. There, a fleet of Dutch steel motor yachts, between 9 and 14 meters long, with space for two to ten people, awaits.

What’s special: The charter certificate is issued directly on-site; a boat license is not required. After the paperwork, a detailed on-board briefing follows, along with tips for route planning. Those who have never steered before can practice the first maneuvers in the calm harbor basin.

From Potsdam to Müritz: The Water Routes

From Werder, you can head in all directions. Eastwards, the path leads past the castles in Potsdam and right through Berlin to Lake Müggelsee. Westwards, Brandenburg an der Havel, Rathenow, and Havelberg can be explored in a week. With more time, the route extends to Müritz and back in about three weeks.

The yachts are small apartments on the water, with a kitchen, heating, and a wet room, plus a 24/7 service phone. Werder itself is worth a stopover: the island town with its alleys, old fishing houses, and the restored post mill is easy to explore on foot.
