An S-Bahn station in Berlin was even named after this traditional nursery: Baumschulenweg!

Späth’sche Baumschulen has existed in Berlin since 1720. The company was founded as a nursery and was once one of the largest tree nurseries in the world. Under the direction of Franz Späth, the beautiful arboretum was created, where woody plants from all parts of the world are tested. Today it belongs to Humboldt University. But not only researchers and professional gardeners benefit from this garden operation. Amateurs and allotment gardeners can also acquire fruit trees and shrubs, as well as flower bulbs and balcony plants. The farm shop on the premises sells regional produce, such as organic cheese, vegetables, and Spreewald sausage and ham. The herb garden provides inspiration for home cooking, and those who want to relax from the many impressions can refresh themselves at Hofcafé Späth amidst a blooming environment! In addition, there is a diverse event program ranging from the spring festival to garden trips to England and Scotland.
