Many Berliners with green thumbs take on the sponsorship of a tree pit, ensuring colorful flowers and cheerful hues in the cityscape.

The point of contact for citizens who wish to take on a tree pit sponsorship is the Parks and Green Spaces Department of the district in which they reside.

The Treptow-Köpenick Parks and Green Spaces Department has, for example, compiled information on what to consider when caring for a tree pit. For instance, only low-growing plants (max. height: 50 cm) that do not impair the growth of the street trees may be planted, e.g., no climbing plants. Pavements or street edgings must not be altered when maintaining the tree pit.
