Planet Wein is the wine shop at Gendarmenmarkt: Sommelière Anja Schröder has been running the shop on Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Straße since 2005 and has over 500 wines on display, focusing on Riesling, German Pinot Noir, and Champagne. On Fridays, wine is served openly until 11 PM, and on Thursdays, themed evenings feature seven to ten wines.

On Rathausstraße near Alexanderplatz, there's a tapas bar that avoids clichés: ham carved from the bone, croquetas, and vermouth, served at wooden barrels and at the counter.
