In the Scandinavian Quarter in Prenzlauer Berg, two sisters have brought Georgian cuisine to Berlin that feels as warm and genuine as a supra at home. Daia stands for generation-tested recipes, rare Qvevri natural wines, and the spirit of true Georgian hospitality.

Georgian Restaurant daia: Where Supra Culture Meets Prenzlauer Berg

In the Scandinavian Quarter, nestled among established addresses, daia opened its doors in October 2025. Behind it lies a clear vision: sisters Tamuna and Tatia, along with Demna, wanted to create a warm, family atmosphere while serving authentic Georgian cuisine. The name says it all: Daia means “sister” in Georgian. This is also how the Georgian restaurant operates as a concept: sharing is not an option here, but the program.

Daia brings the spirit of a Georgian Supra, meaning long tables full of family, food, and wine, into the heart of Berlin. The interior provides the perfect setting: the atmosphere combines tradition with clarity, soft cave-like tones and cozy lighting contrast with a bright bar and heavy wooden tables. But the real centerpiece is the self-built open oven, whose neon sign announces “Sazkchobi,” meaning bakery, in Georgian.

Georgian Cuisine with Depth: Khachapuri, Khinkali, and Qvevri Wine

The menu of the Georgian restaurant features what defines the cuisine of the Caucasus. Adjaruli Khachapuri, slow-cooked Chakapuli, and seasonal vegetable plates for sharing are central. Also popular: specialties like Khinkali dumplings and Imeruli Khachapuri. Those looking for vegan options will also find them: The menu includes traditional Georgian dishes and vegan options, with prices between 20 and 30 Euros.

At daia, wine is as much a part of the meal as bread. The cellar houses natural Qvevri wines, which are rarely found outside the Caucasus. In addition, daia regularly hosts wine evenings: the wine cellar was specially converted into a tasting room where regular themed evenings around Georgian wine take place. So, if you really want to understand Berlin’s Georgian gastro scene, you can hardly avoid daia in Prenzlauer Berg. Brunch is available Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00, dinner Tuesdays to Sundays from 17:00 onwards.
