8000 Vintages is the Georgian wine bar on Großbeerenstraße in Kreuzberg and, since 2023, the chain's first location outside Georgia. Around 500 Georgian wines are on the shelves, about 300 of which are fermented in Qvevris. The wine bar includes a wine shop and guided tastings with four wines and a Georgian platter.
8000 Vintages: Georgian Wine Bar with Wine Shop in Kreuzberg
The name refers to 8,000 years of winemaking history, and that’s exactly what 8000 Vintages brings to Großbeerenstraße. The concept originates from Tbilisi, where the company operates several bars and shops. Berlin-Kreuzberg has been the first location outside Georgia since 2023, and it functions simultaneously as a wine shop, a bar, and a venue for tastings.
The shelves reach from floor to ceiling and are not sorted by producer size, but by grape variety and appellation. Around 500 Georgian wines are stocked, and exclusively Georgian: Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane, Kisi, and Khikhvi for whites, Saperavi for reds. Approximately 300 of them are fermented in Qvevris, the traditional clay amphoras embedded in the ground. About 90 percent come from indigenous grape varieties, plus nearly 15 sparkling wines.
Qvevri Wines, Georgian Platters, and Guided Tastings
Which bottles make it onto the shelf is decided by a tasting committee that blind-tastes around 100 new wines month after month. Small family businesses stand equally alongside large estates. A bottle in the shop starts at about 15 Euros, and if you want to drink it on-site, you can have it opened for a corkage fee.
Alongside the wine, platters are served instead of hot dishes. The Georgian platter for 28 Euros includes Lobio, pickled Jonjoli, spinach with walnuts, Bazhe, and beetroot with Tkemali sauce, plus wholemeal and white bread. Also on the menu are cheese, Churchkhela, and bread with Kakhetian oil. For those who want a deeper dive, a guided tasting with four wines and a mixed platter can be booked, lasting approximately one hour and available for groups of up to 30 people. Additionally, 8000 Vintages directly supplies Georgian wine to businesses in Berlin.
