Glasweise: Italian Wines and Orange Wine at Gendarmenmarkt

Taubenstraße is located a few steps from Gendarmenmarkt, placing Glasweise in a prestigious part of Berlin-Mitte. Owner Marco Gianni runs the bar as a wine bar with an Italian signature; the menu is sorted by categories and countries, with Italy always in the first position in each. Friuli, Piedmont, Franciacorta, Campania, Tuscany, and Sicily are represented with their own estates, in addition to selections from Austria, Germany, France, and Spain.

Orange and natural wines have their own section at Glasweise, featuring growths from Italy, Germany, and Austria. Fourteen wines are available by the glass (0.1 liters), divided into Champagne, Orange and Biodynamic, White, Rosé, and lightly chilled Red wine. A glass starts at 9 Euros, with Champagne by the glass costing 16 Euros.

Oysters, Cheese, and a Strong Negroni Selection

The snack menu bears the subtitle „Made for sharing” and is structured accordingly. There are green olives, bread with salted butter from Brittany, pickled vegetables with smetana, chicken skewers with peanut dressing, Sardinian sardines, eighteen-month-aged Prosciutto di Norcia, and zucchini blossoms with mozzarella and Parmigiano Reggiano. The cheese selection of three varieties with fig-walnut jam and bread costs 19 Euros, in addition to Irish oysters and caviar.

In addition to the wine list, the establishment offers its own Negroni menu and explicitly considers itself a Negroni and wine bar. On special evenings, DJs play, and for groups, there’s the Champagne Club with unlimited champagne for two hours. The bar can be booked entirely for private parties and corporate events, and on certain days, it is reserved for this purpose.
