Those who want to explore Brandenburg on the weekend will find a special kind of excursion destination in Beelitz-Heilstätten. The Beelitz-Heilstätten is a former complex of sanatoriums and lung sanatoriums south of Berlin, which between 1898 and 1930 was intended to allow workers of the imperial capital to recover from the then rampant tuberculosis. Today, the place attracts thousands of visitors. The reason: The 320-meter-long and up to 23-meter-high barrier-free treetop walk stretches over and through the trees of the species-rich forest park of the historically significant Beelitz-Heilstätten.
Particularly impressive is the so-called “Alpenhaus”. The development of this area by a treetop walk, crossing a multi-story ruin on whose roof a forest has been growing for 70 years, is unique in Europe. So, if you’re planning an excursion to Brandenburg, you won’t want to miss this real highlight.
Observation Tower, Guided Tours, and Practical Information
The absolute highlight of the area is the tower: The 40.5-meter-high observation tower is equipped with an elevator, so you can enjoy the view from several levels. From the barrier-free accessible observation tower, the view sweeps over the famous Beelitz-Heilstätten, to the Fläming region, and as far as Berlin. If you want to delve deeper into history, you should also book one of the guided tours offered. The tours through the old buildings are particularly exciting, as you can enter areas that otherwise remain locked.
Regarding planning: From March 1st, the Baum & Zeit park area in Beelitz-Heilstätten opens daily for visitors, from 10:00 to 18:00. There is a special ticket for families: Two adults and up to four children receive combined admission starting from 28 Euros. Beelitz-Heilstätten is located about 50 kilometers southwest of Berlin city center and is easily accessible by train and car: The regional express RE 7 stops several times a day at Beelitz-Heilstätten station.

Main car park P1 directly at the roundabout, first 30 minutes free, day ticket 3 Euros; car park P2 800 meters away for buses and severely disabled.
Opening Hours
April to September daily 10:00 to 19:00, March and October until 18:00, November until 16:00, December to February limited on weekends and public holidays.
