The Der Holländer Garden Center at Trakehner Allee 1a in Charlottenburg is a destination for garden plants, perennials, hedges, and houseplants for most of the year. In winter, the premises right next to the Olympic Stadium transform into a Winter Wonderland, and admission to the grounds themselves is free. Between the festively decorated sales areas, there are themed zones, a miniature train, a carousel, and several photo corners for families. A special highlight are the miniature winter landscapes, where small villages, fairgrounds, and snowy scenes glow in miniature format. Over the course of the season, Christmas tree sales and a large selection of festive home decorations are added. More than 20,000 guests visit the site each season. Those arriving by car can park for free in the customer car park; public transport users can alight at the U-Bahn station Olympia-Stadion or the S-Bahn station Olympiastadion and walk the remaining meters.

Winter Delicacies Right Next to the Ice Rink

Those coming off the ice don’t have to go far for a break. The Winter Wonderland’s gastronomy area is located right next to the ice hall. The snack bar offers savory and sweet treats, from warm snacks to freshly baked waffles and soft-serve ice cream, along with coffee and hot cocoa. Mulled wine and punch are served in the mulled wine hut. The seating areas are heated and atmospherically lit, making them suitable for a short break between rounds as well as a meeting point for parents while children glide across the ice.

800 Square Meters of Real Ice Under a Permanent Roof

The heart of the Winter Wonderland is the covered ice hall with 800 square meters of real ice. Here, there’s no synthetic plate, but frozen water that is regularly freshly prepared. Because the hall is completely covered, rain, drizzle, or mild temperatures don’t matter. Own skates may be brought, and rental skates are available in sizes 24 to 50 directly at the rink. Admission costs 6 Euros per person, and rental skates also cost 6 Euros. For children and anyone still unsteady on skates, skating aids are available, and the on-site team will sharpen dull blades. A live DJ plays for the ice disco, light effects immerse the hall in a party atmosphere, and the themes change. For children, there are interactive activities with special guests, from fairy tale characters to superheroes and K-Pop stars, and during Advent, Santa Claus and St. Nicholas stop by, filling boots with goodies. Registered school classes receive a discount on admission, rentals, and skating aids. Tickets are available exclusively at the on-site ticket office; advance reservation is not necessary.
