Mörchenpark is an established urban gardening project in Berlin and part of the Holzmarkt project in Berlin-Friedrichshain.
Mörchenpark e.V. was founded in April 2012. With many volunteer helpers, the association greenifies open spaces on the Holzmarkt site, maintains these garden facilities, and plants vegetable patches and school gardens. The greening of roofs and simply gardening together is also on the agenda. The association also became known for its tongue-in-cheek motto: “A little carrot comes true”. The logo features a unicorn with a green mane, and the association even has “Mörchendising” in its portfolio.
The aim of the association is the design and renaturation of the open spaces between the Holzmarkt units and a wide strip along the Spree riverbank. Garden boxes are used for growing useful and ornamental plants. Topsoil has also been applied to the fallow areas, and raised and terraced beds have been created.
