Sometimes you just want the whole program: a juicy burger, sticky spare ribs, and an ambiance straight out of an old road movie. In Reinickendorf, the American Western Saloon serves up steaks, chicken wings and ribs in the best US manner. Anyone who swears by typical American burgers cannot miss The Bird in Prenzlauer Berg. And at Andy's Diner & Bar in Mitte there is even a real Harley hanging on the wall, while the portions satisfy even a big appetite. We compared burgers, tested onion rings and paid attention to the authentic fifties flair that makes a good diner. The result is our personal Top 10. Where will you order your next milkshake?

For me, an American diner has to do both: serve up a proper spread and transport me to another time. For this list I paid attention to juicy burgers and steaks, to crispy sides like onion rings and fries, but also to the trimmings: chrome, red upholstery, loud music. And the milkshake has to be creamy, otherwise the whole picture is not right for me.
