Rabenstein Castle in the southwest of Berlin looks exactly how the storybook imagines a medieval castle. It has a massive castle keep, a gatehouse, a knight’s hall, a torture chamber and even an active falconry that offers flight demonstrations on Fridays.
The castle rises above the village of Raven on the “Steep Hagen”. The ascent of the keep will be rewarded by a wonderful view of the High Fläming, which can be enjoyed from high above. Because of its steep hillside position and its fortifications Rabenstein Castle has long been considered impregnable. The castle houses a hostel where you can stay overnight. Rabenstein Castle is also used for weddings with wedding ceremonies in the chapel tower.
Especially popular are the medieval spectacles and joustings at Rabenstein Castle with markets and music. Highlight of the year is the Easter spectacle from Good Friday to Easter Sunday. All events are announced in advance on the website of the castle. The castle is often used as a starting point for cycling and hiking tours through the Nature Park of High Fläming.
Movie fans know Rabenstein Castle as a film set of the movie “The pants of the knight of Bredow” with the world star Armin Mueller-Stahl.
