In Marzahn-Hellersdorf, the Gardens of the World gather eleven theme gardens and nine garden cabinets, from the Chinese Garden with its teahouse to the Balinese Garden under glass. Berlin's only cable car runs across the grounds up to the Wolkenhain on Kienberg. As a Sunday program, this offers options from a short stroll to a full afternoon.

Gardens of the World: eleven theme gardens on Blumberger Damm in Marzahn

The Gardens of the World are located in Marzahn-Hellersdorf on Blumberger Damm, at the foot of Kienberg. Eleven theme gardens and nine international garden cabinets recreate garden art from various cultures. These include the Chinese Garden with its lake and teahouse, the Japanese Garden of stone and raked gravel, the Oriental Garden with a fountain courtyard and arcades, as well as the Korean, the Christian, and the Balinese Garden, which is the only one under glass. In between, there is a maze of hornbeam hedges, a labyrinth, and an open-air stage where concerts take place during the summer half-year. The paths between the gardens are wide and mostly flat, allowing strollers and wheelchairs to pass through everywhere.

With the Cable Car over the Gardens of the World to Wolkenhain

Berlin’s only cable car runs across the grounds. It connects Kienberg Park with the Gardens of the World and stops on Kienberg, where the Wolkenhain observation deck offers views over the eastern part of the city. The ride is available as a combi-ticket together with park admission, allowing visitors to combine arrival and a tour. A day ticket costs 9 Euros during the summer half-year, 4 Euros reduced. Access is via U5 to Kienberg, the station is directly at the valley station. For a Sunday, this makes for a tour that, depending on your pace, can fill two hours or the entire afternoon.
