Berlin's first international comedy stage is located in the heart of Neukölln and has consistently done since 2015 what the city is known for: pushing boundaries. In the soundproofed 70-seat theater on Roseggerstraße, improv theater meets stand-up, English meets German, and craft beer meets genuine laughter.

Comedy Café Berlin: Neukölln’s Answer to Everything Too Stiff

Comedy Café Berlin opened its doors in Neukölln in autumn 2015. What began back then as Berlin’s first international alternative comedy stage is now a fully-fledged cultural center: with a soundproofed theater, a full bar, and the CCB Training School. The CCB is open from Wednesday evenings as a bar and performance venue, and additionally as a café during the day on weekends. So, anyone who wants to spontaneously drop by for an improv show has several opportunities each week.

Show formats range from stand-up to improvisation and sketch, as well as podcasts, available in either English or German. This allows the CCB to appeal to both the international Berlin community and German-speaking theater enthusiasts. The resident ensemble Turtle Logic, winner of the CCB Cage Match Tournament 2024, performs UCB-style long-form improv and is now one of the established names in Berlin’s improv theater scene.

Learn, Laugh, Go: The CCB Training School

The CCB Training School is based on the North American long-form approach by Del Close and offers beginner as well as advanced courses, in both English and German. So, if you don’t just want to watch but want to perform yourself, this is the right place for you. All basic courses conclude with a public graduation showcase show, to which family and friends are invited free of charge.

Furthermore, Comedy Café Berlin organizes the Berlin Fringe Festival once a year, where international comedians test their material before the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Thus, in Neukölln, you suddenly find yourself in the middle of the global comedy circuit. Tickets for improv shows are available starting from 10 Euros. And craft beer is included.
