Together with tens of thousands of other GDR citizens, Chancellor Angela Merkel crossed into the West at this very spot on the day the Wall fell.

The Bösebrücke connects East and West Berlin via Bornholmer Straße. It is therefore often also called Bornholmer Bridge. Today, several memorial plaques at this location point to the historic event. An art installation titled “Mind the Gap” also commemorates November 9, 1989. Speakers are built into the red furniture art object, from which the word “Wahnsinn” (madness) emanates. Because it is almost incomprehensible how peacefully the fall of the Wall took place.
