In Berlin's Kreuzberg Wrangelkiez, just a few steps from the Oberbaumbrücke, Aldemir Eis has stood for homemade, special trend ice cream since 1989. Over 30 self-created flavors, freshly baked butter waffles, and combinations like chocolate-chili or gorgonzola-fig make this shop a serious destination for ice cream explorers.
Aldemir Eis: Where Craftsmanship Meets Imagination
Owner Ismail Aldemir regularly designs new ice cream flavors, because in his opinion, ice cream is like fashion: each year has its own taste and therefore needs its own ice cream collection. The result is not boring standard scoops, but a real assortment of trendy ice cream. Magically whimsical ice cream creations like Grandma’s Apple Pie, Chocolate-Chili, or Gorgonzola stand equally side by side. If you need even more choice: A total of up to 40 flavors are available, including quark-sesame-honey, yogurt-rhubarb, or roasted almond.
Then there’s the shop’s signature detail. The freshly baked waffles are curved inwards, allowing ice cream, cream, fresh fruit, and toppings like chocolate sprinkles to pile up into a veritable work of art. The scent of waffles already draws crowds from a distance. And the crowds come.
Wrangelkiez Institution with True Regulars
A modern self-service concept with digital screens and multiple serving windows speeds up ordering; the staff is considered friendly and open. Nevertheless, it’s true: on warmer summer days, you’ll need to bring some patience, but the wait is definitely worth it. Those who are clever order half scoops to combine even more flavors in one serving.
Aldemir Eis also remains fair in terms of price. The scoops are large, the portions fair, and there’s also coffee, smoothies, and even small pizza bites for a quick treat or a walk through Kreuzberg. Regulars also report a loyalty card with which you can collect small extras. In short: Aldemir Eis is no longer a secret tip, but one of those places you simply have to experience for yourself.
