Since 2009, the ice cream manufacturer Vanille & Marille has been producing its ice cream in a Kreuzberg backyard - handcrafted, without artificial additives, with over 100 self-developed flavors. What goes into the cone daily ranges from Sicilian pistachio to Caramel Beurre Salé. Nine stores across Berlin, a clear commitment to quality.

Trendy Ice Cream from the Backyard: Vanille & Marille

Behind the Kreuzberg shop on Hagelberger Straße is the so-called “Eiszentrale” (Ice Cream Headquarters) – from there, a total of nine stores in Berlin are supplied. The artisanal-traditional ice cream manufacturer was founded in 2009 in this very Kreuzberg backyard. So, if you’re looking for trendy ice cream with substance, you’ve come to the right place.

The assortment includes high-quality classics like Chocolate Venezuela 73% or Original Tahiti Vanilla, as well as unusual flavors like Caramel Beurre Salé or Blueberry Cheesecake. In total, the assortment comprises more than 100 flavors, with 20 of them displayed in the ice cream showcases daily – some are evergreens, others change seasonally. The manufacturer also offers experimental creations such as “Chocolate with Orange and Ginger,” “Prosecco Mint,” or “Dried Apricot with Candied Pine Nuts and White Pepper.”

Natural, Sustainable, Handmade

The ice cream manufacturer Vanille & Marille focuses on homemade ice cream and sorbet made from natural ingredients – almost all flavors are gluten-free. State-certified ice cream makers create the flavors in Kreuzberg and Schöneberg. This clearly distinguishes the manufacturer from industrial ice cream, which is still standard in many Berlin ice cream parlors.

Vegan, lactose-free, and gluten-free flavors are part of the permanent offering, and the entire production runs on 100% green electricity. If you want to enjoy your favorite trendy ice cream not in a cone but on the couch, grab the “Home Cups” – pre-filled 500-ml cups are available in the Kreuzberg and Schöneberg stores, as well as in Prenzlauer Berg and Steglitz. Either way: It’s worth queuing.
