For me, a good business meal lives not only off the plate but off the setting around it. For this list I paid attention to whether you can talk without shouting, whether the service stays attentive but unobtrusive and whether the lunch menu arrives promptly in the short break. The kitchen also had to convince, ideally something special, but nothing that distracts from the conversation.
The Relish is located in the Westin Grand on Friedrichstrasse, under a 30-meter high atrium with a glass dome and next to the grand staircase. The cuisine is international with regional ingredients; three courses cost 63 Euros, four courses 74 Euros. For a business dinner in Mitte, the private room Coelln II with twelve seats can be booked.
Masaya on Zietenstraße near Nollendorfplatz serves Lebanese cuisine: Master chef Haissam Nassr offers cold and warm mezze and skewers from the charcoal grill, with wooden tables under large parasols outside. Platters are calculated per person and cost between 35 and 43 Euros. For a business meal in Schöneberg, everything is served family-style for sharing.
Le Canard on Klingsorstraße offers French-Mediterranean cuisine with organic products: Duck confit à l'Orange for 29 Euros, pike-perch fillet with saffron foam for 28 Euros, plus a surprise menu starting from 49 Euros. At lunchtime, there's a changing menu for 18.90 Euros. For a business lunch in the south of Berlin, this is one of the quietest addresses in Steglitz.
Sticks n Sushi serves Japanese cuisine with a Danish twist in the former Tagesspiegel printing house on Potsdamer Straße, spread over two floors with over a hundred seats and a sculptural spiral staircase. The four lunch menus cost between 17 and 23 Euros. Group menus for sharing are available for ten people or more, practical for a larger business dinner in Tiergarten.
Named after director Ernst Lubitsch, the restaurant on Bleibtreustraße has been serving classic cuisine between Berlin, Vienna, and Paris since the early nineties: Königsberger Klopse for 23.50 Euros, Steak Frites for 28 Euros. The Business Lunch is available daily at noon between Ku'damm and Savignyplatz, in the courtyard when the weather is good, instead of in the dining room.
The Michelberger Restaurant on Warschauer Straße cooks Central European heritage dishes with vegetables from its own farm in Spreewald. At lunchtime, there's the Lunch Tray for 22 Euros and a daily special for 19 Euros; on Wednesdays, Schnitzel made from Havelland apple pork is served. For a confidential business meeting, the Whisky Room is set up for small groups.
Manon Brasserie Nouvelle at Roomers am Steinplatz in Charlottenburg serves French brasserie cuisine with a Southeast Asian twist, curated by The Duc Ngo: Cordon Bleu for 33 Euros, Steak Frites for 36 Euros, oysters from 5 Euros each. Prices are reduced for business lunch, and the green inner courtyard can accommodate up to 80 guests.
Behind the ivy-clad facade in Meinekestraße near Ku'damm, Diekmann has been serving German-French cuisine since 1982, amidst 19th-century colonial store wine racks and a freestanding oyster bar. Water, baguette, and espresso are included with the main course during Business Lunch, with the flank steak costing 26 Euros.
Between Gendarmenmarkt and Friedrichstraße, Borchardt continues its address from 1853, since 1992 again as a restaurant, under four columns of grey-green stucco marble. The Wiener Schnitzel costs 32 Euros, the wine list features around 350 items. For a private business dinner, the summer bar in the inner courtyard with 32 seats can be booked.
Next to the Theater des Westens on Kantstraße, Wartesaal cooks on an open beechwood grill and in a stone oven for pizza. The business lunch costs 11.50 Euros as a pizza, pasta, or salad menu, including a non-alcoholic drink. 130 seats can be exclusively booked, making it suitable for larger business dinners near Zoo Station.
