Sticks n Sushi: Japanese cuisine in the old Tagesspiegel printing house

The first German branch of the Danish chain opened at the end of January 2017 at Potsdamer Straße 85 in Tiergarten, in the building where the Tagesspiegel newspaper was formerly printed. Over a hundred seats are spread across two floors, connected by a sculptural spiral staircase. Towards the street, a large window front with a bar opens, and inside the space is an open kitchen with a grill. Sticks n Sushi was founded in 1994 in a Copenhagen basement by brothers Jens and Kim Rahbek together with Thor Andersen. The head chef in Berlin is Song Lee.

Four lunch menus and group menus for ten people or more

The name describes the principle: sushi and grilled yakitori skewers, cooked Japanese style with a Nordic touch. At lunchtime, there are four menus to choose from, each consisting of Bites, Maki or Nigiri, and Sticks, costing 17, 19, 21, and 23 Euros. The 19 Euro menu is vegan. À la carte, Hotate Kataifi with scallops costs 14.80 Euros, Beef Tataki with shiitake and truffle ponzu costs 15.80 Euros, and Wagyu Bites cost 22.50 Euros. For ten people or more, a group menu can be pre-ordered, which is served on sharing platters and costs between 29.50 and 70 Euros per person.
