Borchardt

Between Gendarmenmarkt and Friedrichstraße, Borchardt continues its address from 1853, since 1992 again as a restaurant, under four columns of grey-green stucco marble. The Wiener Schnitzel costs 32 Euros, the wine list features around 350 items. For a private business dinner, the summer bar in the inner courtyard with 32 seats can be booked.

Borchardt: A Berlin Address Since 1853

August Friedrich Wilhelm Borchardt founded a delicatessen and wine shop on Französische Straße in 1853, which eventually became a purveyor to the royal court. The current building at number 47 was built by Carl Gause in 1899 and 1900 from red sandstone and is a protected historic monument. After the war, the state-run Lukullus operated here before Roland Mary and Marina Richter reopened the restaurant on March 5, 1992. Four columns of grey-green stucco marble support the hall, and floor tiles and a Pompeian mosaic were reconstructed during the restoration.

Wiener Schnitzel, 350 Wines, and a Summer Bar in the Courtyard

The menu sticks to German-French classics. The Wiener Schnitzel costs 32 Euros, the Bouillabaisse Marseillaise 28 Euros, and a Black Angus entrecôte is also 28 Euros. A quinoa salad is available for vegetarians for 17 Euros. The wine list includes around 350 items, from aged Bordeaux and Burgundian Chardonnays to German Rieslings. Those planning a business dinner without an audience can book the summer bar: a separate restaurant section in the inner courtyard with floor-to-ceiling windows, mahogany tones, and 32 seats, with direct outdoor access.
