You can argue splendidly about the best burger in the city in Berlin, and that is exactly why we bit our way through. On Boxhagener Platz in Friedrichshain, BURGERAMT keeps not only classics but also unusual creations like the Orientalburger and Baconguacamole. Anyone who likes it Japanese orders fusion fare with a wasabi kick at Shiso Burger in Mitte. And under the subway tracks at Schlesisches Tor in Kreuzberg, the Burgermeister sizzles up his small but fine patties. We paid attention to juicy meat, to buns that do not go soggy, to honest sauces and crispy fries, whether from sweet potato or classic with rosemary. The result is our personal Top 10. For me a good burger is pure handwork, and you can taste that right away. For this list I paid attention to the interplay: juicy, well-seasoned meat, a bun that can hold up to the sauce, fresh toppings instead of slices carelessly thrown on. The fries also had to be right. And of course, for me it is part of it that the portion really fills you up.
