It all began in 2007 when Martin Hartmann opened a small delicatessen with Austrian specialties. Guests quickly wanted more, and so the small Sissi grew into a large restaurant spanning two floors. Since then, Restaurant Sissi in Schöneberg has been known for the best Austrian cuisine and has been voted Berlin’s best Austrian restaurant for years. This is not modesty; it is simply well-deserved.

The Austrian restaurant Sissi is pink through and through: In the inviting dining room with stylish wooden furniture and pink floral wallpaper, one delves into the world of the Austrian Empress. Colorful interior and a living room atmosphere ensure a good mood. Those who prefer something a bit more exclusive will find the right place upstairs.

Belle Etage and Austrian Classics at the Highest Level

Guests reach the Belle Etage via a hidden staircase, where they can dine, celebrate, or simply eat and drink in a spacious ambiance. At the large table in the second room, one is among oneself, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday Berlin outside.

The menu features the dishes one hopes for. The traditional Wiener Schnitzel generously covers the plate, beneath which lies lukewarm cucumber and potato salad. Vegetarians can choose the eggplant schnitzel, and as a South Tyrolean specialty, spinach dumplings with three types of South Tyrolean mountain cheese, leeks, and white wine sauce are offered. Regular guests keep returning to Motzstraße in Schöneberg for the weekly menu, as the changing dishes show that Austrian cuisine can be much more than expected. For dessert, the homemade Sissi cake is recommended. In good weather, one can enjoy sitting on the sidewalk while the quick service brings chilled Grüner Veltliner and homemade bread.
