Ballhaus Wedding Berlin

Hidden in a backyard on Wriezener Straße is an 1889 ballroom with chandeliers, a walnut dance floor, and Gründerzeit furniture. Since 2022, Ballhaus Wedding has once again been a cultural venue in the Soldiner Kiez, offering tango evenings, poetry slams, improv theater, and concerts.
Ballhaus Wedding: an 1889 Ballroom in the Backyard
From Wriezener Straße, you only see an ordinary residential building. Only in the courtyard does Ballhaus Wedding reveal itself, where dancing and celebrations have taken place since 1889. After many years without regular operation, Djamila Rempel and Robert Bittner have continued the house as a cultural venue since 2022, deliberately preserving its historical character.
The ballroom measures 133 square meters and features a sprung walnut dance floor, dimmable chandeliers, and a concert-ready grand piano. The Belle Époque style furnishings are among the largest collections of Gründerzeit furniture in Berlin. In addition to the hall, there is a fireplace room, a peacock room, a red salon, a winter garden, and a golden champagne bar. There is also a green courtyard of approximately 130 square meters.
Program between Tango, Slam, and Senior Disco
The program is a colorful mix: Tango, Swing, and Discofox evenings, improv theater, poetry slam, concerts, mystery and horror dinners, and brunch with live music. A true institution is the Senior Disco, which has existed since 1974. Cabaret and burlesque evenings are also regularly scheduled.
Admission prices depend on the format. Dance evenings cost approximately 11 to 20 Euros, concerts and theater around 20 to 30 Euros. For many events, social, inclusion, and children’s tickets are available, as well as a neighborhood ticket for residents from surrounding postal codes. The sofa ticket, offering a seat on the sofa and a glass of sparkling wine, is particularly comfortable.
