Nebula Art Space

In the former bathhouse of Beelitz-Heilstätten, families immerse themselves in rooms of light, sound, and large-format projections. Many installations react to movement and gaze, allowing children to set the art in motion themselves.
Interactive Installations for Children to Participate In
Inside, it gets dark, and that’s precisely what makes it appealing for children. Many works at Nebula Art Space react directly to their audience. In Vortex Lucis, movements in the room generate light and sound, which a central vortex attracts. The Digital Mirror confronts children with their digital reflection, playing with the question of who is actually looking at whom. In the Imaginator, your gaze controls, via an eye-tracking system, which images emerge from the subconscious of an artificial intelligence. In Luminous Objects, luminous objects stand between image and sculpture in the room, their edges and surfaces disrupting one’s perception of material and depth. Families should plan about 90 minutes for the tour through all installations, after which the bar in the middle of the exhibition invites you for a break with snacks and drinks. Strobe lights are not used; the rooms are staged at a decelerated pace, but mostly heavily darkened. Because only a limited number of guests are admitted per time slot, families should ideally book their tickets online in advance.
Family Trip to Beelitz-Heilstätten with the RE7
For families from Berlin, the trip to Nebula Art Space begins without traffic jams and without searching for parking. The RE7 train runs twice an hour from Berlin directly to Beelitz-Heilstätten station, and from there it’s just a five-minute walk to the bathhouse. Those arriving by car can park their vehicle in the paid underground car park directly on the premises. All around is the large area of the Heilstätten with a treetop walk and barefoot park, so the exhibition can be combined well with a few hours in the fresh air. The building is barrier-free accessible, strollers can be parked in the entrance area, and lockers are available for jackets and bags.
