Theater Morgenstern in Berlin-Schöneberg has been performing for children and young people for over twenty years.
For more than twenty years, Theater Morgenstern has been making theater for a young audience. The children’s and youth theater’s venue has been the listed Schlesiensaal in Rathaus Friedenau in Berlin-Schöneberg for several years.
The team of actors, musicians, and art and theater educators develops material primarily for elementary school-aged children, but also for families and school classes. Kindertheater Morgenstern understands theater work as a fantasy-activating medium and thus aims to create a space of inner freedom for children.
The theater performances are intended to inspire a desire to discover the world. Participation is key in the accompanying theater education programs.
The repertoire mainly features classic pieces, such as Oliver Twist (after Charles Dickens) or The Adventures of Strong Wanja (by Otfried Preußler). The range extends from adaptations of old sagas and fairy tales and classics of world literature to contemporary authors.
During the week, the theater performs for school classes and also for kindergartens; on weekends and in the evenings, it performs for the whole family. In addition to accompanying theater education programs, the theater makers regularly initiate theater workshops for children, teenagers, and young adults from all over the world, where they jointly explore the future, delve into self-chosen themes, and have a lot of fun. At Theater Morgenstern, people from all cultures and social strata come together who would otherwise never meet.
