Since 2005, Aiko in Berlin-Mitte has stood for uncompromising Japanese cuisine: fresh sushi, teppanyaki from the show kitchen, and a minimalist ambiance right by Rosenthaler Platz. Small, reliable, open daily.

Aiko: Sushi and Teppanyaki in Berlin-Mitte

Those looking for a good sushi restaurant in Berlin will sooner or later end up at Brunnenstraße 193. Aiko opened its doors in 2005 and has enjoyed continuous popularity ever since. Owner Yin Ye has created a place here that combines culinary craftsmanship and enjoyment in a stylistically minimalist space that exudes serene tranquility. This makes the establishment one of the most reliable sushi restaurants in the city.

The kitchen focuses on substance over show. Teppanyaki and sushi are prepared in an open show kitchen in a bright ambiance, with a long bar and outdoor terrace. The head chef skillfully prepares teppanyaki and sushi according to Japanese recipes directly in front of the guests on special grill plates. Thus, every visit becomes a visual experience as well.

Fresh Ingredients, Fair Prices, Wide Selection

The menu focuses on freshly prepared sushi specialties, which can be enjoyed in combination with a rich selection of salad variations, soups, various skewer variations, and dumplings. Particularly popular are the “Inside-Out Salmon” rolls as well as the selection of Nigiri, including Nigiri Sake and Nigiri Tamago. Furthermore, the menu also offers plant-based options: those who eat plant-based will also find something to their liking. The Buddha menu impresses with baked avocado maki and juicy tofu pockets.

Overall, Aiko remains one of the most down-to-earth sushi restaurants in Berlin-Mitte. The kitchen places great importance on healthy preparation. All ingredients are therefore processed very gently. The establishment is well-visited year-round, which is why a reservation is advisable. Those who drop by spontaneously will often still find a spot, especially at lunchtime.
