Sometimes an evening should be more than a laid table. Berlin offers the full range for this, from dinner show and crime menu to dining in complete darkness. At BAR JEDER VERNUNFT in Charlottenburg, the three-course menu with champagne comes with a program featuring stars like Max Raabe. If you like a journey through time, the Wilde Matilde Bar in the Nikolaiviertel is the place for you, where a variety show with its own carousel welcomes guests to the Berlin of the Golden Twenties. Things get exciting at the Kriminalmenue in Wilmersdorf, where you investigate between courses. And at the unsicht-Bar in Prenzlauer Berg, you dine in complete darkness. Which experience will it be next time?

With dinner-show dining there is always the risk that the show makes you forget the plate. That is exactly what I paid attention to: does the concept carry the whole evening, or does the first effect fizzle out after twenty minutes? It mattered to me whether the kitchen keeps up with the staging, whether the program is genuinely entertaining, and whether in the end you are left with an evening you will still be talking about weeks later.
