Grill Royal in Mitte is currently regarded as the regular haunt of the beautiful and prominent, and Leonardo DiCaprio and Scarlett Johansson have already been spotted here. Just a few steps on, Borchardt has welcomed guests like George Clooney and Barack Obama over Wiener Schnitzel and champagne for years. Anyone who likes it Italian and discreet is in the right place at Bocca di Bacco, which Matt Damon and Tom Hanks appreciate. And the legendary Paris Bar in Charlottenburg remains a classic. With celebrity restaurants, a prominent name on the guest list is not enough for me. I checked whether the food lives up to the reputation and whether you are treated kindly as an ordinary guest or merely tolerated. The atmosphere mattered to me: do you really spot someone now and then, is the kitchen right, and do you feel comfortable without paying a fortune for a mere backdrop?
Located directly on the Spree in Berlin-Mitte, Grill Royal is the city's most famous celebrity restaurant. The menu features cuts from German Simmental to Japanese Wagyu, and its wine selection was listed three times among Berlin's best cellars by Star Wine List 2025. Leonardo DiCaprio, Scarlett Johansson, and Karl Lagerfeld have all dined here.
In a Wilhelminian-era building on Friedrichstraße, Alessandro Mannozzi has been continuing his father's Tuscan tradition since 2001. Bocca di Bacco features an enoteca with 500 Italian wines and a glass-enclosed kitchen with freshly made pasta. As a celebrity restaurant in Berlin-Mitte, it attracts George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon.
The Backroom Cantina at Bar Tausend, where Leonardo DiCaprio and top model Bar Rafaeli are said to have been seen, is the secret meeting point of national and international celebrities at Berlin-Mitte. Should you want to dine here, you first have to find the entrance to get in!
Behind an unmarked steel door under the S-Bahn tracks at Schiffbauerdamm lies Bar Tausend with its restaurant Cantina. In the black-themed dining area with an open kitchen, Japanese, Iberian, and South American dishes stand side by side. Leonardo DiCaprio is said to have partied here with Bar Refaeli, provided a reservation was made.
Located between Gendarmenmarkt and Friedrichstraße, Borchardt is Berlin's most famous celebrity restaurant. History has been made under its green stucco marble columns since 1853, reopening as a restaurant in 1992. Tom Cruise calls it his favorite restaurant in Berlin; Barack Obama and Nicole Kidman have also dined here. The Wiener Schnitzel has long achieved cult status.
The Grosz is a combination between café, restaurant and bar. It is owned by Roland Mary, who also owns the Borchardt. And just like at the Borchardt, celebrities and hipsters frequent the Grosz on Kurfürstendamm, just like businessmen, ladies from the West Berlin society and tourists.
On Auguststraße in Berlin-Mitte, behind tinted windows, lies a corner restaurant with a deli counter, handmade pasta, and mozzarella tasting from Basilicata. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie declared Al Contadino Mozzarella Bar and Bottega their favorite Berlin spot, and since then, Til Schweiger and Diane Kruger have also visited.
Less than a hundred meters from the Brandenburg Gate, Einstein Unter den Linden has been the top address for politics, culture, and celebrities in Berlin-Mitte since 1996. Viennese coffee house culture with Tafelspitz, Backhendl, and smoked glass mirrors characterizes the establishment. Jodie Foster, Bill Clinton, and Wim Wenders are among the guests of this celebrity restaurant.
Since 1997, the Ständige Vertretung on Schiffbauerdamm has been serving Gaffel-Kölsch in the government district, founded by two Rhinelanders even before the federal government relocated.
