Anyone looking for a beer garden in Berlin that offers more than just beer benches and parasols will sooner or later end up at Golgatha. The beer garden is located on the grounds of Viktoriapark, directly at the foot of the eponymous Kreuzberg. With over 500 seats, the outdoor area is spread over several levels: classic beer tables, lounge corners with sun loungers, porch swings, and a rooftop terrace with panoramic views over Kreuzberg. There is also an indoor area with a bar and dance floor, which functions as a club in the evenings. Food is cooked on the charcoal grill daily from 12 PM: homemade sausages based on a Hungarian recipe, pork neck steaks, fish fillets, and vegetarian skewers. Breakfast is available from 10 AM. Ordering is self-service at the counter.

Since 1977: A Kreuzberg Institution

Golgatha has existed since 1977, when the former „Terrassen am Kreuzberg‟ at Katzbachstadion reopened under a new name. Since then, the beer garden has become an indispensable part of the Kreuzberg neighborhood. If you still feel like exploring the park afterward: A few minutes’ walk away, the spectacular waterfall of Viktoriapark rushes down, and at the top of the hill, Karl Friedrich Schinkel’s National Monument proudly stands. Right next door is also the Willy-Kressmann-Stadion, which creates a great atmosphere in the neighborhood on match days. The mixed crowd, the green location, and the long history make Golgatha one of the most distinctive beer gardens in the city.
