Mikku Ceramics: Learn Pottery in Prenzlauer Berg

Mikku Ceramics has existed since 2014. The workshop on Oderberger Straße sees itself as a place where you can experiment with clay even without prior knowledge. The name is derived from the Japanese word „seramiku,“ which simply means ceramics. The workshop focuses on careful handling of materials and the environment: green electricity is sourced, and packaging materials are reused.

Wheel Throwing Courses, Hand-building, and Open Workshop

The course offerings range from a three-hour beginner’s wheel throwing session to a three-session course where pieces are thrown, trimmed, and glazed. Classes are taught in small groups of three to four people. Those who prefer to work without a pottery wheel can learn to form bowls, jars, or mugs using thumb and slab techniques in the hand-building course.

Clay, glazes, and firing are included in the courses, and finished pieces can be picked up after about six weeks. Those with experience can work in the open workshop or rent a pottery wheel. If a piece breaks during firing, it can be re-potted and glazed free of charge.
