Living Room Cinema on Kastanienallee

The tiny Lichtblick art-house cinema in Prenzlberg has only one screening room with retro charm. Here, golden stucco still adorns the walls, and a piano stands in front of the screen, reminiscent of silent film eras. Red fabric seats, angular, colorful wall lamps, and retro wallpaper complete the picture.

In the foyer, there is a counter where a woman sells cinema tickets from a tear-off roll. Things are unhurried here, so waiting times can occur. However, there is never any advertising before the daily changing films. On some days, two screenings take place, on others seven.

In addition to the regular film program, Lichtblick also offers special film series, such as “LakiShots” (Latin American short films), “Back to the Beginning” (filmmakers present their early works), or “ExBlicks” (current Berlin films with English subtitles for an international audience). As often as possible, Lichtblick also invites filmmakers and independent directors to the screenings.
