Handwerksbrauerei Lemke Berlin

Lemke Brewery at Hackescher Markt in Berlin-Mitte: home-brewed beer under listed S-Bahn arches, hearty Berlin cuisine, and an atmosphere that quickly becomes the best place in the city during football tournaments.
Berlin Brewpub Classic since 1999
The history of Lemke Brewery began in 1999 in the atmospheric S-Bahn arches. The beer is still brewed just a few meters from here. It was all founded by Oliver Lemke, who, after dropping out of business administration and completing his brewing studies, had traveled the world before welding together his own equipment in Berlin. The brewpub on Dircksenstraße occupies the space in the listed S-Bahn arches with two large halls. In the guest room, you feel as if you are in a brick-lined vaulted cellar. The rustic wooden tables and benches fit the cozy brewpub style, while the S-Bahn rumbles regularly overhead. Hanging lamps and spot lighting create a cozy, dim atmosphere for over 100 seats.
The menu features genuine Berlin classics. Legendary beer sausages with IPA mustard, crispy beer hock, Kassler roast, and the Lemke Pork Knuckle Burger are permanent fixtures. Kaiserschmarrn and the popular dessert “Berliner Luft” are also on offer. In addition, fresh dishes from modern German cuisine will be available from October 2025. In a central location near Museum Island and Alexanderplatz, Handwerksbrauerei Lemke Berlin offers visitors authentic cuisine with a twist. The dishes are always coordinated with Lemke’s own beers, which are brewed just a few meters from the restaurant. If you like, you can also book a brewery tour including a tasting of selected beers, which takes place several times a week. If you still feel like it afterwards, you can stroll to Hackescher Markt or Museum Island, both of which are just a few minutes’ walk away.
Why Handwerksbrauerei Lemke Berlin is a Top Address for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
For the 2024 European Football Championship, “Das Lemke” at Hackescher Markt showed all matches broadcast by ARD or ZDF live in the historic S-Bahn arches. Guests from Berlin and all over Europe came to celebrate football together. Lemke will broadcast the games again for the 2026 World Cup.
Football and beer belong together. Around 20 beers from Lemke Brewery Berlin are available, from classic styles such as wheat beer, Pilsner, and Helles to the original Berliner Weisse, noble strong beers from barrique barrels, and even non-alcoholic beer. For Euro 2024, Handwerksbrauerei Lemke Berlin even brewed a special tournament beer called “Fan-Bock”. Indoors, the brewpub offers over 100 seats, and the quiet green beer garden in the courtyard is also a real option for relaxed group viewing during the summer months. Even on busy evenings, you can usually still find a spot. The venue works well for both smaller and larger groups. Anyone who wants to watch football in Berlin-Mitte during the 2026 World Cup without getting lost in the fan mile is exactly right here.
