In Lichtenberg, on the former Stasi premises on Ruschestraße, The Room awaits with four themed rooms: Brandon Darkmoor, The Lost Treasure, Beast of Berlin, and Go West. Instead of generic backdrops, the provider focuses on cinematic light and sound design - and offers not only escape games but also Play and Dine with a subsequent restaurant visit.
Solve puzzles where the Stasi once ruled
The address alone is a statement. Ruschestraße in Lichtenberg was once the seat of the Ministry for State Security – and it is precisely here, on these historically charged grounds, that The Room has found its home. The rooms are located in a renovated factory building, which the game master briefly introduces in the well-maintained waiting area before the game begins. So, anyone taking the U5 to Magdalenenstraße will not only find themselves in front of an escape room but also in the middle of one of Berlin’s densest historical districts.
The Room: Four worlds, an obsessive love for detail
The Room builds worlds with an obsessive love for detail – from dusty relics of past times to the dark secrets of Berlin’s history. The motto is: no mere backdrops, but portals into another reality. You can feel this in each of the four themed rooms. In Go West, players face the dilemmas of the Cold War; in Beast of Berlin, they hunt a serial killer through the hot Berlin of the 1920s; and in Ghosthunter Brandon Darkmoor, they take an internship with a ghost hunter in an abandoned asylum. Additionally, there’s The Lost Treasure, which deals with the underground heritage of the Humboldt brothers.
What sets The Room apart from many other escape rooms in Berlin is its consistent avoidance of generic props. Cinematic light and sound design provide maximum goosebumps – sound and atmosphere are not seen as mere embellishments, but as a supporting narrative layer. Ghosts, for example, don’t just startle clumsily, but act as an ingenious horror factor through sounds, music, and light effects. Games are played in groups of 2 to 6 people, playtime varies from 60 to 75 minutes depending on the room, and German and English are available as game languages.
For groups with an appetite for more
The Room is also equipped for larger groups. Up to 24 participants can play together per session – making the provider well-suited for company parties or birthdays. Those who are still hungry afterward can find a “Play & Dine” offer that combines the escape room with a restaurant visit in just two steps. Prices start from 40 Euros per person; for The Lost Treasure and Brandon Darkmoor, they can be up to 60 Euros depending on the booking time.
