Labyrinth Kindermuseum Berlin
At the Labyrinth Children's Museum in the Fabrik Osloer Straße, children aged four and up celebrate for three hours in their own 85-square-meter room with a kitchen, supervised by two staff members. This includes a mission through the approximately 1,000-square-meter hands-on exhibition, where six keys earned during play eventually open the treasure chest.
In an 1890 Matchstick Factory in Wedding
Labyrinth Children’s Museum is the name, but there is no labyrinth here, as the museum itself points out. It is located at Osloer Straße 12 in Wedding, on the edge of the Soldiner Kiez, specifically in the Fabrik Osloer Straße, a socio-cultural center. The 1890 building is a protected monument and was once a hall where matchstick machines were assembled; from 1978, a group made the empty factory usable again. In the same courtyard today are a district center, a family center, a volunteer agency, print workshops, and a daycare center, ensuring activity before and after celebrations. The museum opened in September 1997, supported by a non-profit organization of the Fabrik. Since then, more than 1.7 million people have visited, around 80,000 annually, and approximately 300 birthdays are celebrated here each year. The address is accessible via tram lines M13 and 50, Osloer Straße station on the U9, Pankstraße station on the U8, and bus line M27. The museum does not have its own parking spaces.
A Mission with Six Keys
Celebrations at the Labyrinth Children’s Museum come in two variants, both three hours long and for children aged four to eleven. With the supervised package, two staff members take care of the group: there is a dedicated 85-square-meter room with a complete kitchen, decorated by the team with reusable decor, plus a tour through the approximately 1,000-square-meter hands-on exhibition. This is designed as a mission; for each successful adventure, a team receives a key, and six keys eventually open the treasure chest. Depending on the group size and date, this costs between 220 and 340 Euros, counting every guest aged two and up. The smaller variant is an eighteen-square-meter jungle room without animation, for a 60 Euro room flat rate plus group admission. In the exhibition itself, children build, dress up, program at a control center without a screen, and make music from bottles and dishwasher parts in the so-called Kanntine. Food and drinks are brought by the family, street shoes stay outside, confetti and alcohol are not allowed.
