At the Moabit Children's Farm, children can craft, play soccer, cook, and do a lot of gardening themselves.
At the Moabit Children’s Farm, located on the edge of Fritz-Schloß-Park in Moabit, gardening is a primary focus. In the children’s farm garden, children are allowed to grow flowers, herbs, and vegetables with their supervisors. Pumpkins are harvested in raised beds, self-planted chard grows, and zucchinis sprout. Otherwise, this open, free offering primarily emphasizes meaningful leisure activities.
Especially during the summer holidays, many wonderful activities are offered, such as baking and cooking, crafting, sitting by the campfire, or reading aloud. Twice a week, interested children craft musical instruments from old scrap and learn how to play them. Drumming also takes place regularly on the farm. Agility can be trained on a wooden climbing wall. In the afternoon, soccer training is offered, and of course, children are also encouraged to help beautify the farm themselves. Agile children can practice juggling and stilt-walking. During school hours, children also receive homework support. Wood and metal crafting are also offered.
In the early evening, the rabbits living on the farm are fed together. (There are no other animals here.) The open activities are aimed at children aged 7 to 13, meaning children can come and go independently. Daycare and after-school groups are also warmly welcome after registration. The supervisory responsibility then lies with their caregivers.
