Just beyond Berlin's city limits, in Potsdam's city center directly by the canal, the NANO Science Center awaits young inquisitive minds with over 80 interactive exhibits. Here, natural sciences are not merely explained, but literally taken into your own hands. A science center that captivates children from preschool age and keeps families busy for hours.

Science Center NANO in Potsdam: Grasping Science

NANO is an interactive science world that aims to spark interest in natural sciences and impart basic scientific knowledge. It’s less about dry theory and more about touching and trying things out. The motto is: Children should first have fun before they realize they’re learning about science. This works surprisingly well.

The NANO Science Center invites visitors with over 80 experiments to explore and discover exciting phenomena from the field of natural sciences. Independent exploration, touching, and understanding are key. For example, children learn how a foam kiss behaves in a vacuum and can perform the original docking maneuver on the ISS in the in-house spaceship. The podcast chair also transmits sound directly to the skull bone, completely without headphones.

NANO: Hands-on Exhibition, Experimentation Courses, and ScienceQuest

In addition to free exploration, NANO offers much more. Exhibitions, experimentation courses, and workshops are available starting from preschool age. This provides a structured program for kindergarten groups and school classes. Based on the Brandenburg/Berlin curriculum, primary school classes can choose from 15 experimentation courses in the subject areas of general studies, environment, and natural sciences. This also makes NANO an attractive destination for schools from Berlin.

Additionally, NANO offers the “ScienceQuest” event series: Researchers from Potsdam or Berlin institutes present a topic from their field. A short trip across the city limits is definitely worthwhile for an outing with the whole family.
