For me, a popular restaurant by the water has to be down-to-earth and honest. I looked at whether the water view is really there from your table, whether the kitchen delivers solid home cooking instead of forced trends and whether the prices stay reasonable for an outing. Most important to me is the relaxed mood, that feeling of having left the city behind for a few hours.
The Wannseeterrassen in Zehlendorf are among the most beautiful lakeside restaurants in all of Berlin. From the elevated terrace directly on the Großer Wannsee, the view extends to Kladow, the lido is right next door, and the feeling of being surrounded by greenery is guaranteed here.
Set on the Neuer See in the Tiergarten park, the café is a large lakeside beer garden in summer and a warm restaurant with an open fire in winter.
The Hafenküche is located on Rummelsburg Bay in Lichtenberg, directly opposite Plänterwald. Here, you'll find water, fire, and a cuisine that offers more than its location might suggest.
