Museumskonzerte im Bode-Museum

Sunday morning on Museum Island, with chamber music by the Staatskapelle Berlin: The museum concerts at the Bode Museum in Mitte combine a classical matinee with sculpture art and café culture to create one of the city's most atmospheric Sunday programs.
Museum Concerts at the Bode Museum: Classical Music Meets Century Architecture
Since 2010, chamber music ensembles of the Staatskapelle have been performing at the Bode Museum, one of the most remarkable buildings in Berlin’s museum landscape. The concept is as simple as it is convincing: on Sundays, at 11 AM, the Tapestry Hall opens for an approximately one-hour matinee. The programs in the magnificent Tapestry Hall range from Baroque and Classical to Romantic and Modern. So, whoever wonders what to do on a lazy Sunday morning in Berlin will find one of the city’s most elegant answers here.
The building itself was constructed from 1898 to 1904 according to plans by Ernst von Ihne in Neo-Baroque style, making it arguably the most dignified concert hall Berlin has to offer. The hall is beautiful and boasts excellent acoustics, which makes the music of the Staatskapelle ensembles even more impressive. Classical concerts on Sunday in Berlin often feel like a mandatory program elsewhere. Not here.
After the Concert: Exhibition, Guided Tour, and Museum Café
The matinee concerts can seamlessly extend into further hours in the museum, for example, with a guided tour through the exhibition and to the “Artwork of the Day”, during an individual tour, or with a culinary conclusion in the stylish museum café. Those who book a combi-ticket thus get a complete Sunday program all in one. Musicians of the Staatskapelle play a concert lasting 60 to 70 minutes, leaving the rest of the day completely open. This allows Sunday in Berlin to be enjoyed in a relaxed and culturally meaningful way, without feeling rushed. The museum concerts at the Bode Museum are therefore much more than just a concert visit. They are a complete Sunday morning.
