West African street food in the heart of Potsdamer Platz: Afropot brings the flavors of Ghana to Tiergarten, with homemade classics like Waakye, Jollof Rice, and Puff Puff.

Jollof Rice, Fufu and Puff Puff: Specialties at Afropot

The menu at Afropot is a tribute to Ghanaian cuisine: rice, cornmeal, and black beans form the base, carefully prepared with fresh herbs and spices. First-time visitors should start with Waakye. It’s Afropot’s signature dish and has been on the menu from the very beginning. Those looking for something heartier can opt for Jollof Rice, a rice dish in homemade tomato sauce, optionally served with salad or vegetables and beef, chicken, or fish. There’s also Red Red, which is black beans in tomato sauce with fried ripe plantains. If you still have room, be sure to order Puff Puff. These West African donuts are light, airy, and full of flavor. Vegans are also well catered for: most dishes are available in a vegan version.

In Berlin since 2020, now at Potsdamer Platz

Afropot Berlin was opened in September 2020 by founder Nana Eve. What started as a delivery and pick-up service in Kreuzberg has since evolved into a permanent stall at Manifesto Market on Potsdamer Platz. The concept there fits well: Europe’s largest food hub gathers restaurants and street food concepts from all over the world in one place in the heart of Berlin. Those who want to combine their visit to Afropot with more can simply look around Manifesto Market. In addition to the restaurants, there is also the excellent Himitsu Speakeasy Bar and two Soot Bars with handmade cocktails. The African restaurant in Berlin remains the heart of the adventure.
