For over twenty years, Papà Pane di Sorrento in Ackerstraße, Berlin-Mitte, has been synonymous with Neapolitan wood-fired pizza of the highest Berliner standard. Three brothers from Sorrento bake here according to original recipes, with buffalo mozzarella, authentic ingredients, and the passion of a large Italian family.

Papà Pane di Sorrento: When Pizza Tells a Family Story

There are restaurants that don’t need a big stage. Twenty years ago, brothers Antonio, Luciano, and Gionatan Pane opened their restaurant in Berlin-Mitte, ensuring that the capital finally had an address for serious pizza. Papà Pane di Sorrento is primarily known for its wood-fired pizza, which is topped with buffalo mozzarella, among other ingredients, and has already won several awards in Germany and Italy. International celebrities took notice: Numerous stars like Tom Cruise or Robert Redford swear by the stone oven pizza, which has already won several awards in Italy and Germany. Even Brad Pitt is said to have dined here during the filming of “Inglourious Basterds”.

Pizza in Berlin-Mitte: More than an Address

Handmade pasta and wood-fired pizzas form the heart of the offerings. Those who order pizza receive not a tourist concession, but Neapolitan craftsmanship. In the heart of Berlin-Mitte, the restaurant creates a cozy, almost Mediterranean atmosphere with a sunny terrace, warm lighting, and a team that cares for guests with warmth. It’s also worth taking a look at the neighborhood: Two other establishments of the Pane family are in the direct vicinity: the delicatessen “Fior di Pane” with a small dining area, and the slightly more upscale “Locanda Pane”. However, if you come spontaneously, you should know: a reservation is recommended, as the place is very popular. Those who commit will get pizza in Berlin at a level you wouldn’t necessarily expect.
