Since 2008, Rosa Canina in Prenzlauer Berg has been demonstrating what organic ice cream truly tastes like: handmade, certified organic, and without a drop of artificial flavor. If you're passing by Hufelandstraße or Pasteurstraße, be sure to take a peek through the viewing window into the ice cream factory.
Rosa Canina: Berlin’s Most Famous Organic Ice Cream Parlor
Rosa Canina offers handmade, certified organic ice cream from Berlin, with each product distinguished by carefully selected ingredients from controlled organic and fair trade cultivation. Unlike many other ice cream parlors, here not only milk and cream are organic, but truly everything, from walnuts to sugar to lemon. You can taste the result. Particularly impressive is the view through the window into the production area: visitors can watch live as the different ice cream varieties are made.
Fruit, Spice, and Chocolate: The Flavors of Rosa Canina
Exotic ice cream flavors like vanilla with pumpkin seed oil, Moscow Mule, pineapple with sage, and butter caramel with rock salt are on the menu alongside classic ice cream varieties. The fruit-spice combinations are also compelling: raspberry with basil or pineapple with sage are included, as are ice cream creations à la Mozartkugel, white chocolate with ginger, or the vegan Zotter noble dark chocolate. Furthermore, Rosa Canina also supplies its organic ice cream to Berlin gourmet restaurants and catering companies. At Hufelandstraße 7, there are around 30 flavors as well as coffee specialties, with approximately 35 outdoor seats and 8 indoor seats, open from March to October until late in the evening. So, if you’re planning a long summer evening in Prenzlauer Berg, you should definitely include Rosa Canina in your itinerary.
