Whoever enters the Berliner Kaffeerösterei in Charlottenburg is immediately greeted by the scent of freshly roasted beans. Since 2001, the establishment on Uhlandstraße has stood for artisanal roasting and a serious engagement with coffee origins. Well over 120 varieties from growing regions in Ethiopia, Colombia, Indonesia, and even Australia are available. The staff knows its assortment and is happy to explain the difference between a mineral weathered soil from Ethiopia and a volcanic one from Colombia. Furthermore, the establishment co-founded the German Roasters’ Guild, representing more than just its own shop within the Berlin coffee scene.

Café, Cakes, and an 87-Page Menu

The roasting operation includes an attached café with its own espresso bar. The menu spans 87 pages, guiding guests through origins, aromas, and preparation methods. The offerings range from classic coffee specialties to rare treasures like Hawaii Kona, for which a cup can cost up to 15 Euros. Additionally, there are homemade cakes and pastries from their own patisserie, also available in gluten-free versions. The ambiance is characterized by historic serving counters, black and white tiles, and the scent of freshly roasted beans. Roastery, delicatessen, and coffee house are united here under one roof.
