If you want to combine asparagus dining in Berlin with a view of the Spree, Carl & Sophie in Moabit is the perfect place. This restaurant, located on the historic grounds of the old Bolle dairy, serves fresh asparagus from Kremmen during the season, prepared both classically and modernly, all with a view that speaks for itself.

Asparagus Dining in Berlin: The Asparagus Menu at Carl & Sophie

When it comes to asparagus dining in Berlin, Carl & Sophie offers several variations. Those who prefer classic dishes can enjoy fresh white asparagus from Kremmen with nut butter or Hollandaise and organic Linda potatoes. The dish can be upgraded as desired: with Baltic Sea baked ham, a Wiener Schnitzel, or a beef fillet.

Those looking for something lighter will also find the asparagus cream soup with lemon-wild garlic gremolata on the menu. Also highly recommended: the grilled variation, where Kremmen asparagus is prepared over charcoal with bell pepper, mustard seeds, chervil, and black garlic. The result is aromatic and slightly smoky.

For dessert, we recommend either the marinated strawberries with rhubarb buttermilk ice cream and woodruff foam or the Crème Brûlée with strawberry ragout. If you visit on May 10th for Mother’s Day, you can order a special menu for the occasion.

The Restaurant: History, Cuisine, and Location in Moabit

Located on the former dairy premises dating back to 1890, this light-filled restaurant sits directly on the Spree River. From the now landmark brick buildings, Carl Bolle once supplied Berliners with milk. The name Carl & Sophie is inspired by the Bolle couple, who also served as an inspiration for the restaurant’s cuisine.

In service and in the kitchen, a well-rehearsed, professional team led by Chef Martin Höse ensures that every visit is a first-class experience. Höse serves classics like Schnitzel or Tartare, as well as a wide selection of vegetarian dishes, with a special highlight being the beef and pork from their own farm at Gutshof Weng in Bavaria.

The restaurant is reachable by S-Bahn from Bellevue station in about a 5-minute walk over the Moabiter Bridge, then along the banks of the Spree. This places Carl & Sophie virtually on the way between Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) and Schloss Bellevue, making a stroll along the Spree after enjoying asparagus a wonderful option.
